S20: Teaching statistics students about accessibility

Participants will learn about an Open Educational Resource (OER) module created in Canvas as part of a Teach Access Faculty Grant. The module was designed for a first-year introductory statistics course at a 2-year college for use in any course modality. The module content focuses on statistical displays with basic accessibility topics such as captions, alt text, and headings while also reinforcing statistical concepts. Learning materials (video and text, along with formative assessments built in interactive HMTL using H5P) and two possible assessments (a discussion board and a project) will be shared as well as results from pre- and post-surveys on students' knowledge of accessibility considerations from two semesters.
