It is well known that there are many benefits in incorporating some research components into the undergraduate curriculum. This task is often accomplished by including some research as a part of a course or a longer term stand-alone project. In statistics research, there are many challenges. Often, the student may not have the mathematical, data analytic, and programming skills necessary to meaningfully complete a project. This is specially true in longer term projects and may even lead to loss of motivation and interest. How can we, as project advisors face these challenges?
