Into The Wild: Conducting Collaborative Research with the NON-major

Samantha Robinson (University of Arkansas)

Information

Oftentimes undergraduate students pursue majors outside of statistics. However, statistics will likely be utilized in their professional and academic careers e.g., business, journalism, medicine, etc. As statisticians, we can strengthen the skillset of any modern student by providing further statistical education. Working on collaborative research projects accomplishes this in a mutually beneficial manner, leading to more equity-minded and responsible data use by all. Topics for discussion will include advantages for the modern non-major, best practices for co-directing projects, and both pros and cons for members of the statistical community.
