Incorporating Data Science/Analytics into the Undergraduate Curriculum

Abstract:

This regional meeting will start with the two eCOTS 2016 panel presentations. This will be followed by discussion of the following five topics:

  1. lessons learned from Data Science/Analytics eCOTS 2016 sessions presented before Friday,
  2. foreshadowing Data Science/Analytics topics in the first applied statistics course,
  3. creation of a Data Science/Analytics course,
  4. development of a Data Science/Analytics minor or major, and
  5. providing advice to students about a Data Science/Analytics master’s degree or certificate
In preparation for the meeting each attendee will be asked to share an example of a relevant Data Science/Analytics course and an example of a relevant Data Science/Analytics program.
