Abstract
The discipline of data science has developed rather quickly over the past few years. The data science discipline will continue to evolve and separate itself from the discipline of statistics – albeit much to the chagrin of statisticians. In the first part of this session, a comprehensive review of curriculum guidelines published by various professional organizations, e.g. ASA, MAA, ACM/IEEE, will be presented. In the latter portion of the session, case studies utilized in the classroom will be shared with the audience. Audience members will be asked to break-down the various elements of these case studies and identify which elements come from data science, statistics, and computer science.
