Abstract
Several journals focus on statistics and data science education. In this breakout session, participants will interact with editors or past editors of four of these journals, namely the Journal of Statistics and Data Science Education (JSDSE), Teaching Statistics, Statistics Education Research Journal (SERJ), and Statistics Teacher, for discussion focused on journal offerings. In USCOTS 2023, a breakout session aimed at demystifying the publishing process was led by editorial board members from JSDSE, SERJ, and Technology Innovations in Statistics Education and focused on what to include in submissions and how to review such submissions. The target audience of that session was reviewers and authors. This year, we aim to reach out to the readers and potential readers to hear what they would like to see published in statistics and data science education journals, and their suggestions for useful publishing models for the journals to cover the breadth and diversity of needs and wishes of readers across the world. Are there gaps in the aims and scopes across journals? What content would readers like to see more of, and how could this be achieved? Does the spectrum of articles reflect the breadth of statistics and data science education? In what ways do readers find the articles useful? As this interaction takes place, issues about what to include in articles and the review process will arise. Audience members might benefit from having a device to access the journals during the session.
