We-08: Characterizing AP Statistics Teachers' Beliefs and Practices

By David J. Stokes (North Carolina State University)

Abstract

A sample of over 300 AP statistics teachers (teaching in 2018) responded to a survey indicating aspects of their teaching beliefs and practices. This presentation will describe what was learned from parts of the survey, including underlying constructs (from an exploratory factor analysis) and the relationships between these constructs based on teacher groups (from clustering methods). Questions explored include:

What is the relationship between the survey items and what might these relationships mean? and What is the relationship between beliefs and practices across the derived constructs?

Information will be presented through descriptive tables and visualizations.
