Technology-Based Statistics with Limited Technology

Abstract

The GAISE guidelines recommend that we use technology and use real data, but not all of us are able to teach in a computer lab with a projector. How can we incorporate high-tech statistics into a low-tech classroom? From utilizing the devices your students already own, to modeling with manipulatives, to planning ahead, you can teach a 21st century statistics class in a 20th century space. First, I will discuss ways to find or get technology that some instructors may be unaware of. Then I will demonstrate a low-tech lesson in bootstrapping techniques.
