Effective Mentoring

Abstract

A mentor is defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary as “someone who teaches or gives help and advice to a less experienced and often younger person”. Becoming an effective mentor, however, is more than that. Mentor develops long-term relationships with mentees, helps their growth and development, and offers support and wisdom. It needs a systematic learning process by analyzing and discussing mentoring in addition to willingness and interest. Each mentor may have their own objectives and methods, and it can be built up by experiences. It will amplify the benefit and create a synergistic effect by sharing their perspectives and knowledge with other mentors. Reflecting upon the mentoring relationships is a vital part of becoming a more effective mentor. This workshop will provide you the opportunity to reflect on the past and implement changes in the future.
