P1-09: Teaching Nursing Students Statistics for Matched Data with Pain Rating Activity

Abstract

In this flipped classroom, student come to class to rate pain level of 15 persons on a series of pictures and design data collection procedure to answer different research questions. The activities help students learn several key statistical concepts and procedures (i.e. Wilcoxon sign rank Test, Spearman Rank correlation, McNemar Test, Cohen’s Kappa). Through collecting data together and data analysis using SPSS, students’ understanding of the relationship between research design, measurement level and statistical analysis get reinforced.
