Abstract
In introductory statistics, should you teach probability? Bayes? P-values? Ethics? The GAISE report, new statistics textbooks, and instructors from different disciplines offer dramatically different views of what should be taught In a modern introductory statistics course. While this session won’t give you an answer, we will review data gathered from nearly 200 introductory statistics instructors from across the country about the rates of coverage for over 100 learning outcomes in gateway statistics courses. After the review of survey findings, we will ask participants to reflect on our research, why certain learning outcomes do or do not get embraced by instructors, and implications for the future of introductory statistics course content.
