2025 George Cobb Lifetime Achievement Award in Statistics Education - Rules


The Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education (CAUSE) is now accepting nominations for the George Cobb Lifetime Achievement Award in Statistics Education, to be presented by CAUSE at USCOTS 2025. This award is presented at ECOTS or USCOTS to an individual who, over an extended period of time, has made lasting contributions with broad impact to the field of statistics education especially, but not limited to, the teaching and learning of college-level statistics.


Nomination rules:

  • The nomination packet:
    • must include a nomination letter (up to three pages, signed by up to three nominators);
    • may include up to seven (7) letters of support (one page each);
    • must be submitted as a single PDF file (up to 8 MB), using the link below, by March 1, 2025.
  • Self-nominations are not allowed.
  • Nominators and those who write letters of support are asked to keep the nomination secret from the nominee.
  • Nominators of the selected award recipient will be asked to help with ensuring that the recipient attends the conference and also with preparing a tribute for the recipient.
  • Nominations that are not successful may be updated and re-submitted in subsequent years.

Judging rules:

  • The award selection committee is comprised of the Director of CAUSE, the Chair of the CAUSE Board of Directors, the chairs of the USCOTS and eCOTS Program Committees, and at least three previous award recipients (see the link to previous winners).
  • Members of the award selection committee may not submit nominations or write letters of support, unless they recuse themselves from the committee,
  • The award selection committee will inform nominators of the winning nominee by April 1, 2025.
