Abstract
In an era inundated with real-world data, numerous opportunities exist to immerse students in quality data both in the classroom and through projects. Despite the wealth of resources, there's often a gap in students comprehending the essence of future careers in statistics or data science. This session pioneers innovative pedagogical strategies by integrating real-world statistics and data science consulting into the curriculum, utilizing the Dilemma-Data-Insight-Action (DDIA) framework. Examining three projects undertaken by Belmont students in collaboration with local community non-profit partners, we showcase the transformative potential of consulting, connecting academic excellence with tangible community impact. Participants will engage in a discussion, sharing ideas for future projects, fostering experiences that enrich not only our students but also benefit our local communities profoundly.
