Abstract
As the demand for data scientists continues to grow in the workforce, educational institutions are expanding course offering and programs. There are many varying research questions surrounding this change including but not limited to students' learning, instructors' readiness, and policy impact. In the first part of the session, we will share examples from the existing literature on undergraduate data science education based on our findings of a systematic literature review.
Any instructor of data science, whether they teach at the undergraduate level or not, may also have their own questions related to data science education. In the second part of the session, in small groups, participants will focus on formalizing their own research questions and discuss their research interests. We will support each other in developing research plans.
