Information
"Computational thinking and data literacy are critical skills that empower students to think critically and evaluate the reliability of information and sources. Across STEM disciplines, educational interventions are being implemented that emphasize data literacy and statistical understanding in course curriculum and in informal learning spaces including after school and outreach settings. One pedagogical approach for improving participant learning outcomes is the incorporation of gamification.
This discussion will focus on practical applications, sharing insights and outcomes from the implementation of gamification elements such as points, leaderboards, and badges in statistics classrooms, outreach settings, and out of school events. Attendees are encouraged to contribute their experiences, challenges, and successes in gamifying statistics education. The session aims to facilitate a dynamic exchange of ideas on the design, strategy, and outcomes of gamification in traditional and non-traditional learning environments. Through this BoF, we aim to collectively propel the effective integration of gamification into statistics education, fostering engaging and impactful learning experiences beyond conventional settings."
