Tech Talk: Utilizing Free Resources to Advance Students Programming for Data Science Skills: Github Classroom

Adam Sullivan (Brown University)

Abstract

With the advancement of Data Science in our curriculum it is critical that we introduce students to good programming practices. Imparting these skills on students does not require expensive software or additional program costs. Through many common technologies, instructors and professors can teach their students in a new and modern fashion. This breakout session will have the purpose of discussing the use of Github Classroom. Attendees will learn basics of setting up a Github Organization and classroom for their students. Through the creation of a github classroom during the session, attendees will experience github classroom from both the instructor and student side of things. All attendees should register for a github name before attending.
