Tom Short Memorial Fund

Tom ShortThomas H. Short, Jr. (1963-2018) was a well-respected and loved statistics educator who touched the lives of countless instructors and students alike. Tom Short contributed to the statistics education community as an Associate Director for Professional Development for the Consortium for the Advancement of Statistics Education (CAUSE), as past Editor of the Journal of Statistics Education, and as past Editor of the Statistics Education Research Journal. Thousands of students at Villanova University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, John Carroll University (his alma mater), and West Chester University were touched by Tom Short's passion for statistics.

Tom was a reader and table leader for AP Statistics and a leader and organizer of workshops for high school teachers. He served in several national and local leadership roles for the American Statistical Association. In all that he did, Tom was a passionate advocate for professional development of statistics teachers. This fund will provide scholarships for high school teachers to attend CAUSE workshops and USCOTS. Tom would be proud to continue his service to the statistics education community in this way.
