Tribally-controlled colleges and schools generally require instruction to include cultural knowledge and values. As textbooks contain scant information related to Indigenous people, much less specific tribes, this responsibility falls on the instructor. The first time I taught at a tribal college, the dean kindly sat down and went through the syllabus with me. For chi-square, I used the example of Pima tribal members in the U.S. and Mexico. Students survey their own community and use the dataset created to compute descriptive statistics. Educators are invited to share their ideas on datasets, assignments and examples used to meet required cultural content.
