Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly being integrated into academic research processes (e.g., data collection, analysis, dissemination), yet few higher education professionals receive formal training in how to critically and ethically utilize these tools within their classes (Long & Magerko, 2020; Zawacki-Richter et al., 2019). Recent research calls for training programs, especially those with hands-on learning, to better equip emerging researchers and educators with the knowledge and the skills to effectively use AI (Laupichler et al., 2022; McGrath et al., 2023; Moura & Carvahlo, 2024). This workshop will outline strategies for incorporating AI tools within research methods courses. Participants will walk away with examples for class activities, case studies that can be used with their students, and suggestions for assessment. The facilitators will provide access to an online folder that will give the audience members access to resources that they can take back with them to their own institution.
