Abstract
What should be taught in a first course on experimental design in 2025? Should the curriculum evolve to cover methods for large-scale online experiments and causal inference with observational data? Using insights from teaching a course for Master’s students at a large public university, this session aims to identify opportunities for renovating the design of experiments course and share ideas for using simulation-based activities to teach key concepts. Participants will be encouraged to share their ideas about which topics belong in modern experimental design course and work together to build a shared repository of contemporary case studies and datasets.
