Information
Life science students need to make sense of quantitative research and perhaps even contribute to it. Yet, in their review of undergraduate life science programs at Canadian research universities, Tong et al. (2024) found most require one statistics course, if that. Life science students recognize the importance of quantitative skills, but have insufficient preparation (White & Singh, 2023). How can we prepare our students for quantitative research? What are their learning needs? How has the emergence of generative AI reshaped these needs? Participants will discuss ideas and leave with strategies they can adapt for their own contexts.
