Hi everyone and happy new year!
Just wanted to let you know about two new topics with postings on the SBI blog (https://www.causeweb.org/sbi/) awaiting your comments.
- Should we teach bootstrapping
- Incorporating student projects
We are also still looking for individuals willing to give some of our common assessment items (multiple choice pre/post, a few open ended), ESPECIALLY if you are NOT doing much with simulation-based inference J Full details, including a link to sign up, are located here at <http://homepages.dordt.edu/ntintle/assessment_intro.pdf> http://homepages.dordt.edu/ntintle/assessment_intro.pdf.
Thanks,
Beth
SBI listserv participants,
First, on behalf of the coordinators, thanks for signing up for the
listserv!
Second, we wanted to draw your attention to an assessment opportunity for
you and your introductory statistics students. We are happy to offer $100
stipends and a customized report on your student’s pre- and post course
performance as a thank you for your participation. Full details, including
a link to sign up, are located here
<http://homepages.dordt.edu/ntintle/assessment_intro.pdf>. Note that we are
particularly interested in having folks participate who are not using much,
if any, randomization-simulation in their courses. That said, all are
welcomed, including if you are currently participating in the assessment
project this fall.
Third, two new articles were posted on the blog
<https://www.causeweb.org/sbi/> this week. “Introducing the logic of
inference on day one" (by Soma Roy) and “How technology transformed my
intro stats class” (by Val Zonnefeld). Take a look and leave a comment on
these or any of the other great articles posted there!
Fourth, we hope that this listserv can be a place where you feel welcome to
ask any and all questions related to simulation-based inference in teaching
statistics! Feel free to send a question to the listserv anytime by simply
sending an email to sbi(a)causeweb.org
Have a great weekend!
Nathan
